What is giclée printing?
Giclée digital printing is an artistic printing technique that uses a jet of pigmented inks on specific prepared and high-end papers. It is also called Fine Art printing.
It is considered a museum quality reproduction method and is commonly used to make high quality editions of artwork and photography.
It is printed on acid-free prepared papers. Each type of paper has a different composition. Some of them are 100% cotton, 100% cellulose and even bamboo or agave fibers. They are coated with an emulsion that encapsulates the ink. The combination of the inks with the papers makes the printing light-stable and highly durable, with a guarantee of one hundred years in museum conditions. Recently, other supports have also appeared, such as Canvas or specific papers for photography, baryta or plastic. These also have the same emulsion.
Professional printers used for this technique work with 9 or 12 UltraChromne HDX pigmented inks, depending on the model. This technique reproduces 98% of Pantone certified colors.
Tinta Invisible has an Epson Stylus Pro 9880 and an Epson Stylus Pro 9890, which print with UltraChrome HDX pigment inks, up to a width of 111 cm. We work with the full range of Hahnemühle Fine Art paper as well as Awagami, Canson, Cartiera Magnani, Ildford and Somerset.
