l'estació número 2

l'estació número 2 / 2016

L’Estació́ is a multi-language transatlantic review of art, poetics and politics. Founded in Barcelona, it is based in Mexico City and Barcelona. L’Estació seeks to contribute to critical and cultural debate through the exchange of ideas, images, languages, disciplines and singular identities.

L’Estació is a collective adventure aimed at all those wishing to better know and share other possible worlds―also found in this one―to be presented in the here and now. It is an invitation to set out on a journey, on a search for unforeseen encounters amongst a variety of authors, disciplines, cultures and sensibilities.

The first issue of L’Estació will appear in Fall 2015. Writers and artists contributing to L’Estació include Chantal Maillard, Quay Brothers, Marina Garcés, Damián Ortega, Jacques Rancière, Alfredo Jaar, Perejaume, Itziar González, Frederic Amat, Joan Fontcuberta, Juan Villoro and Carles Santos, together with many others.

L’Estació, a project dedicated to artistic and poetic creation and philosophical and political reflection, will appear seasonally, four times a year. Its ambition in every issue is to offer its readers an open, free-ranging and unexpected dialogue between image and text, between the creator of an image (a visual artist, an architect, a musician or the like) and a writer (a poet, philosopher or essay writer, amongst others). The image does not seek to illustrate the text and the text is not meant to comment or reflect upon the image or its author. Rather, in L’Estació text and image work as independent realities without being set apart by predefined subject matter.

L’Estació will come out in a paper edition and will be published digitally as well. The paper edition will feature each given text in its original language. The format will be DIN A3, with a run of 1000, and the price is set at € 4. There will also be a limited edition of 100 copies featuring an original signed and numbered print, at a price of € 75, for subscribers only. There will also be a free digital version available online, where the original text will feature along with its corresponding translation into Catalan, Spanish and English.
